GOLD Support Group
10th December @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 1:00pm on Thursday, repeating until 31st December, 2020
GOLD Group is a support group that meets every Thursday, from 1pm to 3pm, at The Royal Victoria Pavilion in Ramsgate. The group provides the opportunity for people with a learning disability to:
- meet new people,
- find out what’s happening in their local area,
- talk about the things that are important to them,
- get information and advice about any concerns they may have, and
- take part in workshops designed to develop their knowledge and skills.
To date, topics of discussion have ranged from leading a healthy lifestyle to understanding rights. Local organisations that have provided workshops include Thanet Volunteer Bureau, Kent Community Health NHS Trust, Kent Police, Jigsaw, Kent Fire & Rescue Service and Learning Disability England.
This group is run by our GOLD team. GOLD stands for Getting On with Learning Disabilities. GOLD groups are for anyone with a Learning Disability and the groups are intended to reduce social isolation, build supportive networks of friends, provide opportunities to try new things, and build members’ confidence to live independently. We want to enable people to be active in the community and part of their community. If you need support you will need to bring someone with you.
If you would like more information, please do get in touch with our team to discuss your requirements by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 0845 004 1876.
