To spread some Christmas cheer, members of Thanet Big Sing Choir and East Kent Mencap performed a carol service for shoppers at Westwood Cross. Together, the group performed classics such as ‘Jingle Bells’, ‘Deck the Halls’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’, as well as pop songs including ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’, ‘Let it Snow’ and ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’.
Despite the rainy weather, many shoppers stopped to watch the service, which raised £138.62 for our Christmas appeal.
Choir member, Pierre Turner, said: “It was the Thanet Big Sing’s pleasure to meet and sing with the East Kent Mencap singers at their Christmas fund raising event held at Westwood Cross. The fun of the event overcame the cold, wet weather and everyone had a great time.”
Fundraising Officer, Siobhan Rose O’Gorman, said: “We were very grateful to have the support of Thanet Big Sing choir this year, who helped everyone get into the spirit of things. It was great to see so many shoppers joining in, despite the weather!”
