In December, our drama group performed their own rendition of Alice in Wonderland to more than 150 members of the public.
The group, who attend our Thanet-based resource centre, have been preparing Misadventures in Wonderland all year long. The pantomime took place at The Centre in Birchington, and with the support of the local community, raised over £400.
Misadventures in Wonderland was a twist on the original story, with Alice joining the Mad Hatter for a pub crawl instead of a tea party. For the show, the group received additional funding from Thanet District Council, allowing them to make this year’s pantomime even better! The £496.25 grant funded the show’s venue and props.
Support Worker, Tristan Kennedy, said: “I’ve been working with the drama group for a number of years and have really seen the members grow as performers. Over time, the group has become more and more confident, and this year even choreographed their own routines! With the addition of new props, the group were able to stand proudly on stage in front of one of the biggest audiences they’ve ever had.”
