December will see Ramsgate’s healthy living club, Fit Start, reach their 30th week. Alongside Motiv8 Sports, we have facilitated over 600 hours of exercise.
Fit Start is funded by Kent County Council, Comic Relief and Kent Community Foundation. With their support, we may be able to keep the club running well into 2017.
In October, Fit Start hired a sports court at Ramsgate leisure centre to play a game of pickleball. The group really enjoyed this session and have organised their own fundraising challenge to raise money for more sessions at community venues.
On December 14th, the group are taking part in some intense circuit training – with an Xmas twist! Fit Start’s 12 Dares of Christmas will swap lords-a-leaping for jumping jacks and swans-a-swimming for sumo-squats, keeping the club fun, fit and festive before the holidays.
John, who attends the club, said: “I’ve learned that weekly exercise is good for you, so it’s great to do it somewhere where everyone gets on so well. If Fit Start wasn’t running anymore, I would need to find another way of meeting up with people.”
Fit Start takes place every Wednesday, from 4pm to 6pm, at Foresters Hall. For more information, contact us via email, or phone 01843-224482.
