East Kent Mencap has closed all services at our centres in Margate, Ramsgate, Herne Bay and Sheerness. This is to keep everyone safe and stop the Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading. Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new type of illness. There are now a number of people in the UK who have got it and it is spread easily. The Government have said that everyone must stay at home.
You can only leave home to:
- shop for essentials
- exercise once a day
- get medical treatment
You should only be travelling to work if you really have to (many shops and businesses are now closed). You should keep away from other people outside your home.
We are ensuring that every person can still have some care or support, but it may be different for the next few weeks.
Our amazing frontline staff are working hard in a very difficult situation, to ensure people are supported.
We want to stay in touch with you while our services are shut. If you have questions, concerns or just need a chat, we are here for you. You can email info@eastkentmencap.co.uk
Please be careful when you get telephone calls or emails. If you think they are suspicious you can call a member of staff at East Kent Mencap.
We know it is hard to stay at home and not see your friends. We will be contacting our members soon with information about new online groups, clubs and activities they can take part in. We already have a list on our website here of things you can do at home, which you can enjoy in the meantime.
