Extraordinary Times Call for Extraordinary People!
Do you want to be part of a person-centred team that makes a real difference to the quality of people’s lives?
We have an exciting full-time opportunity in our close-knit Herne Bay team to provide care and support to people with learning disabilities. This involves helping them to develop life skills and become as independent as possible within their own homes.
At our supported living unit in Herne Bay, you will utilise the personal support plans of 6 adults with learning disabilities. This will include supporting them with their daily routines and to access a wide range of activities within the community.
We are committed to our staff and their wellbeing, offer a full induction and training programme, salary progression, employee assistance programme, a generous holiday allowance (increasing with length of service), a sickness allowance, as well as a pension scheme and mileage reimbursement scheme (40p per mile).
Support Worker Requirements:
This role will involve some elements of travel within the communities of Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable. Therefore, a driving licence is preferred but is not essential.
Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will preferably hold an NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care (or be willing to undertake one) and have experience in this field (though we would be happy to interview candidates with no experience who have an enthusiastic attitude and person-centred approach). For the right person, a fully-funded apprenticeship can be provided to gain the qualification if needed.
You will be working within a team to provide 24-hour cover, 7 days a week, which may involve working evenings and weekends and also cover sleep-ins (paid at £70.47 per night).
No day is the same at East Kent Mencap! If you want to be part of a team that works with people to explore new, exciting and fun opportunities click apply.
You can apply by sending your CV and covering letter to HR Manager, Alison Fengas (email@example.com).
The closing date for this role is 29th October 2021. However, we reserve the right to close the job immediately should we receive sufficient early applications. If you would like an informal chat about this post, please contact our HR Manager, Alison Fengas by calling 01843 808964 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are committed to safeguarding, equal opportunities and welcome applications from all members of the community. As proud holders of the Disability Confident Leader status, we will guarantee an interview for all candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria. East Kent Mencap was awarded this symbol in recognition of our commitment towards the employment, retention, training and career development of employees with disabilities by the Jobcentre Plus.
