In May, representatives from Lloyds Bank provided a workshop at GOLD’s Getting On Group.
The group, who meet up weekly to share their experiences, wanted to find out more about banking. As part of Lloyds Bank’s Digital Champions programme, a national initiative which encourages its staff to volunteer, Rachel and Alison offered to come and talk to the Getting On Group.
In addition to online banking, the staff members discussed what types of bank accounts were available and how to open them, the differences between debit and credit cards, contactless payments, and the differences between a direct debit and a standing order.
When asked about the workshop, a member of Getting On Group, said: “I like it that they said banks will give extra time to people like me. I don’t like to ask, but sometimes I just need someone to talk to.”
“I know some of the group have had difficulties in the past with banking, but am hopeful that Lloyds’ visit has helped them to feel more able to ask,” commented Delivery Manager, Suzanne Derham.
