In August, members of our Margate resource centre visited the newly restored theme park by the sea for a day of laughter, sunshine and thrills. Our resource centres in Thanet, Swale and Canterbury enable people with a learning disability to develop their life skills, take part in therapeutic activities and access services within the community.
Dreamland is a mere stone’s throw away from our head office on Northdown Road, proving to be the perfect place for a summer’s outing. The day was warm and dry for the most part, but the rain certainly didn’t hold off for the afternoon. The group, however, embraced the change in weather, chanting ‘Let’s get wet!’ as they rode the well-renowned scenic railway.
On the day the group jumped from ride to ride, making sure to experience every thrill. They threw their hands in the air on the waltzer, crashed into one another on the dodgems and grasped onto the gallopers. Support Worker, Charlotte Bailey said; “Everyone who came on the trip was so brave, far braver than me!”
Paul Wood, who attends the Margate resource centre, commented; “Dreamland was absolutely fabulous, me and Louis went on the twister and the waltzer rides but the best ride ever was the Magic Mouse!” with Louis Harris adding; “It was a good day out!”
Without a doubt, everyone who visited Dreamland thoroughly enjoyed themselves and members have already begun planning their next trip to the seaside resort!
