Earlier this year, East Kent Mencap was publicly nominated for Perry’s Chartered Accountants Exceptional Charity Award, and in November representatives attended a glittering awards ceremony at Leeds Castle.
Trustee, Mandy, and member, Ian, attended the black tie event alongside representatives from ten other charities. Together, they enjoyed a three-course meal, music and dancing, and a spectacular view of the castle and grounds.
Other nominees included Oasis Domestic Abuse Service, Turning Point & Kent MS Therapy Centre, who won the award.
“Being able to attend awards ceremony with Mandy made me feel really special,” commented Ian. “I’d never been to a black tie event before, and bought a new suit especially!”
Mandy said: “Simply being nominated for this award made us feel like winners. It was a very special evening and provided us with the opportunity to find out about other local charities and make ourselves known to them.”
