Members of EKM have been collaborating with the Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHNFT) to create “Easy Read” materials for over 8 years, producing materials to help patients with a learning disability or sensory impairments. This group is a part of EKM’s Valuing People Now (VPN) delivery groups in East Kent and part of the Kent Learning Disability Partnership Board. The Easy Read group have been awarded “Group of the Year” by the Trust’s Patient and Carer Partnership Team. Ali Carruth, the Director of Participation, Experience and Patient Engagement said: “The group has worked particularly hard in the past year, taking part in other activities like the participation recruitment film [and the Participation Matters newsletter]”. We’d like to say a huge congratulations to the Easy Read group for providing such a valuable and needed service in the community.
