At our last youth club before the holidays, children told Santa Claus their Christmas wish.
Children & Youth Manager, Ange Brown, commented: “Children with a learning disability can find it difficult to take part in festive activities, such as meeting Santa in his grotto. The club night provided the group with the opportunity to do this in an environment that was comfortable for them.”
Leeroy Fairhurst, who is a supporter of East Kent Mencap and dressed up as Santa Claus for the youth club, said: “It was my pleasure to dress up as I felt I’d really made the children’s Christmas.”
Our youth clubs take place monthly and provide children with learning disabilities the opportunity to meet new people and try new things.
This particular club night was the last to be funded by Kent Community Foundation, which has a made a real difference to children’s lives.
