We are proud to announce that East Kent Mencap will continue to provide Valuing People Now support in East Kent, listening to the voices of people in Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, Deal, Shepway and Thanet.
Michelle Hosken, who has been involved in supporting District Partnership Groups (DPGs) for over six years, will continue to lead on this work. The new Valuing People in East Kent project will be focusing on making sure the voices of people with a learning disability are heard by decision makers.
Work we already have planned includes sharing people’s experiences of health and social care with Healthwatch Kent, campaigning for Better Health with Royal Mencap, and developing easy-read information with Kent Community Healthcare Trust.
Since the announcement that a General Election will take place in June 2017, we will provide workshops on voting.
We look forward to working with partners old and new and would like to thank everyone for their support of the DPGs. Although there will be some changes to how things work and what they are called, we hope that you will continue to work with us to ensure that the voices of people with a learning disability are heard.
Please look out for our easy read report, which celebrates our work over the last 6 years on making Valuing People Now happen in Kent.
