In October, Thanet tenant, Joyce, was supported by a volunteer to go on a five-day break to Blackpool.
Linda, who volunteers for our Supporting People Enablement Team (SPET), has been supporting Joyce for over two years. Having been on a number of day-trips in and around Kent and Sussex, Joyce and Linda decided to go on a short break elsewhere in the country. Together, the pair chose to go on a coach trip to Blackpool to see the Illuminations.
Joyce and Linda stayed in a hotel located in the city centre, and over the five days visited the Illuminations, Blackpool Tower, Fleetwood Market and the Lake District.
Linda said: “Joyce hadn’t been on holiday in almost five years, & neither of us had seen the Illuminations before, so when we saw the trip advertised we thought it was a good opportunity. It was great to see Joyce enjoying herself, and though I was supporting her, it felt like a holiday for me too. Now Joyce has her passport, we might even go abroad next year.”
“It was really nice to visit Blackpool with Linda and see the Illuminations together,” commented Joyce. “I can’t wait for our next holiday!”
