East Kent Mencap offers high-quality Day Services to adults with learning disabilities and complex needs throughout East Kent. Working with person-centred principles, user involvement and a committee made of representatives from our service users, we ensure that the people using our centre are always at the centre of running their own service.
We are seeking creative-thinking Support Workers to lead our new range of exciting sessions in our Herne Bay Day Resource Centre which include life skills, cooking, sports, up-cycling, music, drama, leisure and social activities. We want you to support and enable our clients using your experience and skills and, most of all, your passion. Our Service Users tell us that when we hold a cooking club they are the chefs, and when we go to football club they are footballers! Do you have any ideas of other things they could be?
Our ideal candidates will demonstrate an empowering and friendly attitude and ideally possess previous experience of working in a similar setting with adults with learning disabilities. However, we will also consider applications from people with a positive attitude and transferable skills.
We are committed to safeguarding, equal opportunity and welcome applications from all members of the community. As proud holders of the disability confident employer status, we will guarantee an interview for all candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria.
The closing date for this opportunity is Wednesday 11th March 2020 and candidates selected for interview will be contacted after this date. However if we receive an ample number of candidates ahead of this time, we reserve the right to close the vacancy early.
