East Kent Mencap offers high-quality personalised day services support to adults with learning disabilities and complex needs throughout East Kent. Taking people’s preferences into account, daily activities could include taking service users bowling, to the cinema, to the gym, and to events within the community. We also offer some fantastic in-house sessions such as music and art as well as staging two drama events per year in theatres around Thanet.
We are currently offering a full time contract for a senior support worker in our large Thanet day services (Cliftonville and Ramsgate). This will involve working flexibly between 8am and 10pm (includes clubs) but mainly 8am-6pm.
Previous experience is essential for this opportunity and you must be able to demonstrate a reliable and flexible approach to people with learning disabilities. Our service includes community access using a company vehicle and successful applicants will need to hold a full, clean driver’s license.
Your role as the Senior Support Worker will be to work as part of a team, be a key worker and support your colleagues to promote the independence of our service users. You will be required to support the manager in the daily running of the service and you must be IT literate. You will also undertake staff supervisions and chair team meetings.
An NVQ3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is essential for this role or you must be working towards it. In return we offer a full induction and training programme.
