We have finally completed the purchase of Foresters Hall in Ramsgate after Thanet District Council agreed to sell the property through a Community Asset Transfer. Foresters Hall, which includes a listed building from 1811, as well as other properties, will provide us with much needed space to expand its services for people with a learning disability and their families.

Galaxy is a singing group for people with a learning disability, which takes place every Thursday from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. The group is led by a professional choir leader and supported by volunteers and staff from East Kent Mencap.

Members of our Photography Group are proud to present their latest exhibition, featuring wildlife taken at Wildwood and Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory. The exhibition is being held in Margate at King Street Studio and Gallery, and is open Monday to Friday from 9th October until 21st October. Entry is free and many of the prints are for sale.

Pupil’s Voice

We have been working closely with Foreland Fields School to raise the confidence of young people through discussions about their rights, alongside presentations from local groups. Foreland Fields School opened it’s doors to visitors from local businesses and groups in July to celebrate the first year of an exciting initiative to give pupils a voice about their future.

Hundreds flocked to support people with a learning disability at our Summer Festival this year. Despite the weather, smiling faces proved that everyone continued to have fun, take part in exciting activities and enjoy live music, regardless of age or ability. The one day event took place at Margate Football Club and offered an array of activities, including sports, live music and sensory sessions.
