East Kent Mencap is bringing a new hub to Ashford!
Our Ashford hub will be based at Kennington Parish Room, a historic and welcoming community space. The hub will provide a safe, inclusive space where people with a learning disability can develop skills, take part in activities, meet new friends and connect with the local community.
What the Ashford hub will offer
At the Ashford Hub, we plan to support people to:
- Take part in social activities and groups
- Access skills development and learning opportunities
- Enjoy creative and wellbeing sessions
- Have a safe, inclusive space to meet others
- Receive support to be active in the local community
Our aim is to create a hub built around choice, support and opportunity. The hub will also be available for local community to use.
About Kennington Parish Room
Kennington Parish Room has been a community space in Ashford for generations. It has hosted a wide variety of local events where people come together. We are taking the time to carefully restore and improve the building to ensure it is safe, accessible and welcoming for everyone who will use the Ashford Hub.
Our progress
As work has progressed, we’ve discovered that Kennington Parish Room requires careful restoration. This means our hub will open later in 2026.
We really appreciate your patience. Getting this right matters – not just for us, but for everyone who will use the hub. Once complete, it will be a fantastic community space for years to come.
