Coronavirus update

Our staff are still working hard to support, keep safe and provide opportunities for adults & children with a learning disability in East Kent

We are pleased to be able to tell you that we are returning to Day Resource sessions at our services in Ramsgate, Margate, Herne Bay and Sheerness. We have completed risk assessments and are confident that we are able to provide a safe place for Members to attend in ‘bubbles’. We will still be providing virtual sessions, calls and other support. If you have any questions please call Karen Loughrill on 07478 080 504.

If you or someone you care about has a learning disability and is struggling during this time, please do get in touch on 01843 22 44 82 or email info@eastkentmencap.co.uk. We are here to help.

How we make a difference

There are over 28,000 people with a learning disability living in Kent. Only 15% are currently known to be eligible for support from Kent County Council. We help offer an essential service throughout East Kent

  • We listen to people with a learning disability
  • We fight for the changes that people with learning disabilities and their families and carers want and need
  • We support people living with a learning disability in all areas of their lives
  • We give information and advice
  • We work with people and groups that want the same things we do

What East Kent Mencap means to you

East Kent Mencap supports people with a learning disability to achieve their potential
  • As person centred plans are used at East Kent Mencap I chose their community support team to work to support Leah as I did not want a ‘sitter service’, but support for her to do the activities that she wanted to do
