This Learning Disability Week, you can help create new opportunities for people with a learning disability in East Kent.
On 15 June, we’ll be launching a new fundraising appeal to help furnish and equip our new Ashford Hub, creating a welcoming space where people can make friends, learn new skills, gain confidence and feel part of their community.
We’re hoping to raise £700 to furnish and equip the new hub before it opens later this year. Donations will help provide furniture, creative resources, games, wellbeing activities and practical equipment that will enable people with a learning disability to build skills and thrive.
There are an estimated 2,987 people with a learning disability living in the Ashford district. The hub will directly support at least 60 local people, while also benefiting families and carers.
For many people with a learning disability, opportunities to socialise and access activities can be limited. Too many people experience loneliness and isolation. Having a welcoming local hub can make a life-changing difference, providing a place where people are valued, supported and able to thrive.
We’ll be sharing the appeal with supporters at the start of Learning Disability Week, and we’d love for you to be part of it. In the meantime, you can save the campaign link: www.justgiving.com/campaign/ekm-ashford
