Crafternoons

Crafternoons is a crafting and sewing wellbeing group in Ramsgate for people with a learning difficulty. We host mindful crafting workshops, work with local community organisations, and volunteers come and run sewing sessions.

We use materials from The ScrapStore at EKM and recent projects include making lavender bags and aprons. No crafting or sewing experience is necessary, just come along and have a go!

GOLD hosts Open Day

On Wednesday 17th January, the GOLD Project welcomed over 80 guests to the opening of their new office. Getting On with Learning Disabilities (GOLD) is a lottery funded project which supports people with a learning disability living in Thanet to achieve their goals, so they can live the life they want.
The Women’s Group invited women across Thanet to a tea party to launch an Easy Read leaflet on domestic abuse. The Group, who all have learning difficulties, have been working in collaboration with Oasis, the domestic abuse charity to produce the leaflet using simple language and images.

GOLD Celebrate #LDWeek2017

Members of the GOLD project ran a stall at Ramsgate Market in June, as part of Learning Disability Week (19-25 June 2017), a national celebration of what people with a learning disability can achieve.
In May, representatives from Lloyds Bank provided a workshop at GOLD’s Getting On Group. In addition to online banking, Lloyds discussed bank accounts, debit and credit cards and contactless payments.
